Learning in the Early Years
During kindergarten and pre-preparatory years, teaching and learning at Caulfield Grammar School incorporates the best aspects of several education theories, including the Reggio Emilia approach. We believe that a strong love of learning can be nurtured through a positive, fun and supportive experience in the early years.
At Malvern Campus and Wheelers Hill Campus, Caulfield's early learning areas stimulate children with colour, texture, sounds and nature. Our specialist teachers guide the development of children's key skills in literacy and numeracy, through exploring, creating, communicating and documenting.
In addition to their time in the safe and nurturing environment of the early learning areas, children join the campus community for a range of activities including the 'buddy' program, games, library activities and music.
The daily program is also supported by an excellent Before and After School Care program.
Children may join Caulfield in the early years at either Malvern or Wheelers Hill Campus. Malvern offers kindergarten (three to five days a week), pre-prep and prep, through to Year 6. Children then join Caulfield Campus for Year 7 to 12. Wheelers Hill Campus offers pre-prep and prep, through to Year 12.
If you are not sure whether your child is ready to start school, our staff can assist. Please contact the Registrar for an appointment.
