Spiritual Development
Caulfield Grammar School has always been closely associated with the Anglican Church in Australia. However, the school community is known for its openness in accepting students of other religious or philosophical perspectives.Through all aspects of life at Caulfield Grammar School, members of the school community are encouraged to:
- endorse the worth of each person;
- take enjoyment in learning and the discovery of personal abilities;
- gain an understanding of how society functions;
- grow in wisdom when making life choices;
- display respect and care of themselves and responsibility in behaviour;
- seek justice in society;
- promote tolerance and oppose discrimination in all its forms;
- respect and care for the environment;
- develop a deepening sense of care for others, especially those who are disadvantaged;
- build community by emphasising positive relationships between school, students, staff and all their families.
In the secondary years students also enter in formal studies of Religion and Society, which aims to encourage students to appreciate the role spirituality can play in their lives, and the place of religion in society generally. The Christian faith is presented primarily, but reference is made to other religions and world views. Students explore questions of meaning and purpose in life and appropriate ethical behaviour - all with the intention of forming a consistent philosophy and practice in life.
