Equal Opportunity Exemption 

You may be aware that Caulfield Grammar School has previously applied for, and been granted by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), an exemption from the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (the Act) to enable the School, from time to time, for the purposes of achieving gender balance, to: 

(a) Structure waiting and enrolment lists to target prospective students of either gender; 

(b) Advertise for prospective male or female students in year levels where future waiting lists show a gender imbalance; and

(c) Grant scholarships to male or female students and advertise for such. 

The current exemption is due to expire on 30 April 2023 and therefore the School has applied to VCAT for another exemption from the Act, in similar terms as set out above, in order to continue to work towards achieving gender balance at the School. 

In this regard, please see below an Important Notice for your information in relation to the School’s application: 

IMPORTANT NOTICE 

Caulfield Grammar School has made an application to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for an exemption from the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, to enable it, from time to time, for the purpose of achieving gender balance to: 

(a) structure waiting and enrolment lists to target prospective students of either gender;

(c) grant scholarships to male or female students and advertise for such. 

The term ‘girl’ and ‘female’ includes people assigned female at birth and/or people whose gender identity is female. The term ‘boy’ and ‘male’ includes people assigned male at birth and/or people whose gender identity is male.
