2025 Teaching & Learning Leadership Appointments

We are delighted to announce the appointments of three exceptional leaders to our newly created school-wide Teaching and Learning roles. These positions reflect our commitment to fostering collaboration, supporting staff and advancing professional growth. They represent a strategic step forward in aligning practices, enhancing expertise and enriching the educational experience for our students.
These appointments mark an exciting step forward for our School, reinforcing our commitment to collaboration, consistency and excellence. Each of these leaders brings a unique blend of expertise, fresh perspectives and alignment with our values and strategic direction, enriching our community and supporting our shared goals.
Head of Curriculum Design – Baljit Marwa
Baljit is a highly regarded leader within our School community, currently serving as Head of Teaching and Learning (Middle School, Wheelers Hill Campus). She holds a Master’s in Applied Educational Leadership from the University of London and University College London Institute of Education, widely recognised for its excellence in educational leadership.
Baljit has a distinguished career spanning over two decades, including significant leadership roles in curriculum and pedagogy. At Wheelers Hill Campus she has played a key role in shaping the teaching and learning agenda for the Middle School, fostering collaboration among staff and supporting professional growth to ensure best-practice pedagogy is embedded in classrooms.
At Carey Baptist Grammar School, she served as Leader of Learning – Science, where she successfully led a team of 36 educators to deliver innovative and engaging science programs. Her previous roles include IB Diploma Program Coordinator, Head of Science (Middle School) and Leader within Educational Research and Innovation. As a VCE Biology and IB Biology Diploma teacher, Baljit demonstrated exceptional skill in inspiring students and fostering deep engagement with the subject.
Her expertise in curriculum design, assessment and teacher mentoring will be pivotal as she drives strategic curriculum alignment across our School. Baljit has also contributed to educational research through collaborations with initiatives such as the University of Melbourne’s New Metrics Program and Learning Creates Australia, further demonstrating her commitment to innovation in education.
Baljit will officially transition into her new role at the start of Term 2, 2025, following a carefully planned handover period. Her leadership, vision and commitment to excellence make her an outstanding choice for this vital role.
Head of Learning Analytics – Duncan Threadgold
Duncan joins us from Fountain Gate Secondary College, where he has demonstrated exceptional leadership as Assistant Principal. With expertise in data analytics, reporting and digital learning, Duncan has successfully supported teachers and leaders in using data to inform decision making and enhance teaching and learning practices. His proficiency in Power BI and data analysis is complemented by his ability to communicate complex information clearly, fostering confidence and collaboration among teams.
Duncan’s teaching experience includes VCE Philosophy, where he has served as a VCAA Assessor and consistently inspired students to achieve high engagement and success. His ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights is grounded in his approachable and engaging communication style, empowering staff to make informed decisions that directly benefit students.
A relationship-driven leader, Duncan values listening, understanding diverse perspectives and building consensus to create shared visions. His commitment to collaboration and his deep respect for teachers’ work will ensure that data becomes a powerful tool for driving continuous improvement across our School.
We look forward to confirming Duncan’s start date soon and welcoming him into this key role. His leadership and expertise will enhance our ability to use data strategically and effectively, supporting staff in creating meaningful and impactful learning experiences for all students.
Head of Staff Learning and Development – Renee Holland
Renee brings extensive experience from her 25-year career in learning and organisational development, most recently as Organisational Development and Insights Lead at Beyond Blue. She has a proven ability to design professional learning frameworks that are impactful and to foster environments where continuous growth is encouraged and valued.
Renee’s approach is grounded in principles of adult learning and a deep understanding of the needs and motivations of individuals. She is skilled at creating tailored and engaging professional development opportunities that are relevant and practical. Known for her collaborative nature, Renee excels at building trusted relationships across organisations and empowering teams to actively participate in shaping meaningful change.
In this role, Renee will support both teaching and school services staff, ensuring that everyone has access to meaningful opportunities for growth and development. Her warm and approachable style, combined with her strategic expertise, will be an invaluable asset to our School community.
