A powerful vehicle for challenge and change

Performing Arts at Caulfield Grammar School provides many different opportunities for students to participate in all aspects of Theatre and Dance, such as: performing in a variety of School productions from Drama to Musical Theatre; involvement backstage in areas of set design, lighting, sound, costumes and prop-making; and involvement in direction of productions.

We have exceptional Creative and Performing Arts Centres at Caulfield and Wheelers Hill campuses with professional theatres and a number of dedicated studio spaces for our performing arts students.

When it comes to theatre and dance productions, there are as many opportunities to be involved backstage as on the stage itself. Our productions and programs are rigorous and focused, fun and inclusive.

Junior School

Through integrated Drama sessions that extend what is being learned in their classrooms, students are provided with opportunities to develop their confidence, communication skills and ability to collaborate. A range of performance opportunities are on offer throughout the year, culminating in annual theatrical productions for our Years 5 and 6 learners.

Middle School (Years 7–9)

During their time in Middle School, students undertake compulsory studies in Performing Arts, developing their skills through creating and presenting arts in ways that engage and convey feelings, experiences and ideas. There is a range of performance opportunities on offer throughout the year, culminating in annual Middle School theatrical productions.

Senior School (Years 1012)

Caulfield Grammar School offers VCE subjects that specialise in Theatre and Dance. These subjects encourage our students to see performance as a powerful vehicle for challenging and changing attitudes towards the world. It allows students to combine personal and social learning arising from the content with aesthetic understanding about the conventions of Performing Arts. There are also many co-curricular opportunities – such as our annual Senior School Productions, VCE Theatre Studies and Dance Productions, and Performing Arts Tours – that give our students the opportunity to experiment, challenge and confront themselves by moving out of their comfort zone.
