Caulfield Grammar Gift

40 Years On

At the end of November, Mills Oval at Caulfield Campus came alive with energy, excitement and unmistakable School spirit as students competed in the 2025 Caulfield Grammar Gift, marking 40 years since the tradition first began on the same oval in 1985.

The Caulfield Grammar Gift is a handicap running event, designed to give every competitor an equal chance of success. Starting positions are allocated based on ability or previous performances, ensuring a fair and inclusive race that celebrates participation, determination and effort across year levels.

Staying true to its origins, this year’s event replicated the original 120-metre Caulfield Gift run in 1985. Adding a contemporary twist, the program also included the inaugural ‘Mills Gift’ – an 800-metre race comprising two laps of the grass oval – providing an extra challenge for students keen to test their endurance.

The atmosphere throughout the day reflected the strength of the Caulfield Grammar community, with students cheering one another on and embracing a tradition that has united generations of runners for four decades.
