Inspiring Philanthropy

The gift of education to young people is one of the most powerful ways we can have a positive impact on students and their futures.  

Thanks to your support of the Caulfield Grammar School Foundation Scholarship Program, 41 Scholarships have been offered to students since the program commenced in 2018.  These students have come from Indigenous and refugee backgrounds, and regional families and have greatly added to the diversity of our school community. As a previous donor we thank you for your generosity in making this possible.    

We are excited to announce our annual Giving Day is on Wednesday 5 June to continue to grow our Foundation Scholarship program to provide opportunities to students, who would otherwise not have the opportunity of attending our great School.

Giving students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to be a part of Caulfield Grammar School enriches and strengthens our entire learning community. The experience for each Scholarship recipient is life changing as they make a unique and positive contribution to our community, and then to wider society as they continue their journey beyond the School gates. Please look out for further information about our Giving Day in coming weeks – we hope that you will support us again.

Business Breakfast 2024

A strong supportive foundation underpins every great school around the world. The Caulfield Grammar School Foundation (The Foundation) seeks the philanthropic funds that will enable the best possible learning environment and experiences for our students.

Recognising that fees cover the operating and general costs and giving transforms our school, the Foundation works in partnership with the School community to provide our current and future students with world-class facilities, programs and opportunities.

The role of the Foundation is to inspire philanthropy within the Caulfield Grammar School community to support the School’s purpose of enhancing quality learning every day in every experience for every learner for life.

The Foundation, which was established in 1979, provides opportunities for the community to support the School by making tax-deductible donations to the Foundation’s Scholarship Fund, Building Fund or Public Ancillary Fund to benefit our students.

Our Foundation runs Annual Giving, encourages Bequests, and seeks major gifts in support of special building and scholarship programs. Donors can choose from a range of giving initiatives to make a real difference to our students and ensure Caulfield Grammar School continues to be an innovative leading global School.

There are many other ways the community can support the Foundation, such as giving generously to our programs, volunteering at a function or event, being an advocate, providing feedback or even sharing an idea about alternative ways of fundraising.    

We value the generous support of our community and recognise that any contribution is significant to the future of our School and our students. Our community is what differentiates us and we are very grateful for any support we receive for our students and staff. Every gift makes a difference.  

All funds donated through the Foundation are protected in separate accounts and carefully allocated to the area of interest nominated by the donor. No philanthropic funds are transferred into the general operational accounts of the School.

The Gift of Opportunity

Scholarships help to create an inclusive and connected community and generate opportunities for young people who will benefit from and contribute to a Caulfield Grammar School education. The School has a proud tradition of offering needs-based scholarships to students who will thrive at Caulfield Grammar School, and add to the culture and diversity of our student body. Giving students with a passion for learning the opportunity to join and be a part of the School enriches and strengthens our whole learning community and advances society.

Donors can choose to give to one of our priority areas, support a student for a defined period of time (e.g. four or six years) or create a named permanently endowed scholarship (minimums apply) for an area of interest through a gift now or a bequest.

Our aim, through our Scholarship Program, is to foster a socially conscious school that builds diverse communities and lifelong connections.

Contemporary Learning Environments

Contemporary learning environments play a vital role in the education of students. They support staff and students in providing up-to-date facilities, teaching program support and a stimulating environment where learning flourishes and students reach their potential.

Caulfield Grammar School is revitalising an ambitious master plan for facilities that provides purposeful and adaptive learning environments and underpins all strategic decisions based on the development of the physical landscape of all five campuses.

Through donations to the Foundation Building Fund, our community has the opportunity to contribute to the School’s exciting future plans and the building of progressive, inspirational and sustainable learning spaces, which play a vital role in the education of our students. 

Tax-deductible gifts can be made via our Building Fund, which are used to develop physical facilities and infrastructure across all campuses of the School.

From time to time, for major new educational facilities, the School and Foundation run special campaigns seeking support to enable key projects to be completed. Naming opportunities for defined spaces or areas are often associated with these major capital campaigns.

Gifts to the Building Fund are tax deductible. Single gifts or pledges over three – five years are welcomed. See the Giving Section below.

Bequests

A Will, A Lasting Gift

Throughout the School’s history, bequests and other philanthropic gifts have played a vital role in Caulfield’s success in providing a world-class education. Those who leave a bequest are creating a pipeline of philanthropic support, which, over decades, will ensure the School can continue to achieve its vital role and purpose. 

A gift in a Will, known as a bequest, provides an individual with the opportunity to support Caulfield Grammar School once their needs, and those of their loved ones, have been met. A gift in a Will to the Foundation can support the School as a whole, a scholarship, a specific program, a co-curricular area, building projects, a particular campus or other areas of interest.

By making a bequest in a Will, individuals will not only be creating a significant and lasting legacy to Caulfield Grammar School, they will leave an enduring impact on the next generation of students without impacting on their present financial circumstances.

Wills are the pillar of estate planning and appropriate advice (legal, financial, etc.) should be taken when writing a new Will or amending a Will through a Codicil (see the Codicil form below professionally drafted for this purpose) and family should be informed of an individual’s intention and wishes.

1881 Bequest Society

The 1881 Bequest Society has been established to recognise and acknowledge, in their lifetime, those who have made a gift in their Will. Those who notify the School of their bequest are warmly welcomed as members of the 1881 Bequest Society and join a group of Grammarians, parents, staff and friends who are passionate about providing the best possible learning environment and experiences for Caulfield Grammar School students.  

Members maintain a close connection with the School through Bequest Society functions that acknowledge and thank benefactors. Membership also enables members to maintain an interest in the School’s future plans and directions and understand how their bequests will be honoured. Bequestors can, of course, choose to remain anonymous.

When leaving a more specific bequest to the Foundation, intending bequestors are encouraged to discuss their intentions with a member of the Foundation team, or complete the form below and send it to the Foundation team, to ensure their wishes can be honoured and will have the impact they intend.

Giving Day 2023

We are profoundly grateful for the support of the Caulfield Grammar School community for our Giving Day.  

Thanks to the generosity of our donor matches, together with more than 360 donors, almost $740,000 has been raised for our Foundation Scholarship Program.  This will enable us to support 18 Foundation Scholarship students in 2024, young people, who without our help, would not have the opportunity to experience the outstanding learning opportunities at Caulfield Grammar School.     

Giving students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to join and be a part of Caulfield Grammar School enriches and strengthens our entire learning community. We are incredibly proud of the quality of our Foundation Scholarship program and the calibre of students we have welcomed into our School.

Inspire to Give

The generosity of past students, current and past parents, and friends of the School has enabled much of what is seen and experienced at the School. We hope that the Caulfield Grammar School community will be inspired to give to ensure the best possible opportunities for future generations of Caulfield Grammar School students. Each generation benefits from past philanthropy and helps to support the next generation.

Support over the years has been received from Grammarians, parents, staff and friends of Caulfield Grammar in addition to many businesses who as well as contributing to  fundraising efforts provide significant goods in kind.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of grammarians, past parents and friends of the Caulfield Grammar School community who volunteer their time to oversee the work of the Foundation and engage with Foundation donors.
