The much-anticipated Year 7 Yarra Junction (YJ) experience is underway, with the first groups of students embracing this valued rite-of-passage for 2026.
Across five days of immersive learning, students took part in a diverse range of activities – including raft making, biking, hiking, caving and high ropes – challenging themselves to step beyond their comfort zones. Complementing these adventures were hands-on experiences such as gardening, cooking, meeting the resident chickens and even milking the YJ cows.
As each group makes its way through the program, students develop a deeper appreciation for the natural environment, while also reflecting on the impact of their actions and lifestyle on the world around them. The YJ experience continues to be a meaningful introduction to life beyond the classroom, fostering independence, resilience and connection.
