Model United Nations Conference

Wheelers Hill Campus recently hosted a vibrant Model United Nations Conference, welcoming 130 students from both Senior Campuses alongside participants from eight visiting schools. The event brought together students in Years 9–12, each stepping into the shoes of global leaders to debate, negotiate and collaborate on the pressing theme ‘Combatting Climate Change’.

Throughout the day, delegates engaged in structured debates, drafted resolutions and worked in committees to explore practical, ethical and diplomatic responses to climate challenges. The conference encouraged students to think critically, listen deeply and build consensus — skills central to both global citizenship and their ongoing Humanities studies.

A highlight of the event was the exceptional hospitality provided by our Unit 3 & 4 VET Cookery students, who prepared and served a world‑class morning tea and lunch as part of their curriculum. Their professionalism and attention to detail offered delegates and staff an impressive demonstration of applied learning in action.

Adding to the atmosphere, our Music students delivered live performances throughout the conference, showcasing their talent while contributing to a welcoming and engaging environment for all attendees.

This cross‑disciplinary collaboration between Humanities, Hospitality and Music exemplifies the strength of experiential learning at Wheelers Hill Campus. By working together in an authentic, real‑world context, students were able to extend their learning beyond the classroom and demonstrate the depth of their capability, creativity and leadership.

The Model United Nations Conference was a powerful reminder of what students can achieve when given opportunities to explore complex issues, apply their skills and collaborate with peers from across the state. It was a proud moment for our community and a celebration of the rich learning experiences that define our school.
