Junior School Celebrates Science Week

What a fantastic week of curiosity, creativity and STEM innovation across our Junior School!

A major highlight was the House STEM Challenge, where students worked in mixed House teams to tackle real‑world problems and design, build and test their solutions. Projects ranged from Gardening Hats (wearable tools to support gardeners), Moon Rovers (specialised vehicles built to complete lunar missions) and Transforming Shelters (adaptable structures to support people experiencing homelessness).

Students truly thought like engineers — identifying problems, generating ideas, applying STEM knowledge, building, testing, failing, improving and communicating their solutions.

We were fortunate to have three guest judges join us and engage deeply with our students: Prina Bhugwan (RMIT), Jason Moore (Modern Teaching Aids) and Aaron Steel (Learning Mentor & Educator, Caulfield Campus).

Across classrooms, students also explored Science Week through a huge range of investigations and design challenges, including seed dispersal pods, eye‑tracking technology, rescue bug robots and more. It was inspiring to see students not just learning about science, but using science, technology, engineering and mathematics to imagine what could be possible.
